Streams

Accepted written abstracts will be included in the conference proceedings. Abstract titles, authors and affiliations will be published in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia. Complete abstracts will be available online at the journal website.

During the Congress, abstracts will be presented in either the oral presentation or poster presentation programs. Authors may indicate their preference during the submission process. Eligibility of abstracts for either the oral presentation or poster presentation programs will be confirmed during the acceptance process.

Oral abstract presentations will be up to 12 minutes in length followed by a 3-minute discussion/question session. Further details of requirements will be provided during the acceptance process.

Poster abstract presentations will be held during scheduled times in the program. Please be prepared to provide a 3-minute verbal summary of your work and that you are present to answer any questions. Further details of requirements will be provided during the acceptance process.

Prizes

Prizes will be awarded for the most outstanding oral abstract in the following categories:

 -          Large Animal Stream (including small ruminants and pigs)

 -          Small Animal Stream

-          Alternate Topics Stream (including wildlife, exotic animals, equipment, education etc).

To be eligible for a prize in each of the three categories, the abstract presenter must be in a formal clinical training program (intern or resident) or a Higher Degree by Research Candidate (e.g. PhD, MPhil or equivalent). This includes residents enrolled in anaesthesia residencies in addition to candidates for a higher degree by research.

Additionally, a fourth prize is being offered to Veterinary Nurse/Technician presenting an oral abstract in any category. To be eligible, the presenting author must be a veterinary professional who is a veterinary nurse or technician (i.e. not a registered veterinarian).

Authors will indicate whether they wish to be considered for any prizes during the abstract submission process and provide proof of training program, HDR enrolment or employment (nurse/technician). Please contact abstractswcvaa2023@gmail.com with any queries regarding eligibility for any prize.
