Mr Joshua Petterwood is an orthopaedic surgeon with a particular interest in robotic-assisted knee replacement, anterior approach hip replacement and arthroscopic knee surgery, including ACL reconstruction.
Mr Petterwood is constantly striving to improve patient outcomes through the use of technology and with a particular interest in robotic-assisted knee replacement surgery Mr Petterwood was among the first in Australia to introduce the technology in 2017, and the first to market in Tasmania.
A member of the Australian Robotic Research Group and a teacher and facilitator in the discussions about the future of robotics in orthopaedics, Mr Petterwood is passionate about continuously bettering results for his patients and the general community.
Nicholas B Frisch, MD|MBA is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Vermont and his Masters in Medical Science from Loyola University in Chicago. He achieved his MD and MBA in Healthcare Management from Tufts University School of Medicine in Massachusetts. Dr. Frisch completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, and he received his fellowship training in Adult Reconstructive at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois.
Dr. Frisch's practice focuses on minimally invasive hip and knee joint replacement and complex primary and revision hip and knee replacement. He commonly treats hip and knee arthritis. He utilizes efficient pain management pathways which allow for rapid recovery and a faster return to normal activity.
Clinical research is an important part of Dr. Frisch's practice and as a newly appointed Health Policy Fellow for the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS) he is actively engaged in advocacy for his patients and the Orthopaedic community. Prof. Atul Kamath is Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery in the Orthopaedic and Rheumatologic Institute at the Cleveland Clinic. He is the Director of Hip Preservation in the Orthopaedic and Rheumatologic Institute.
Prof. Kamath specialises in open and arthroscopic treatment options for young adults with hip pain, including hip arthroscopy, AVN treatment, surgical dislocation, and periacetabular osteotomy. He also performs a high volume of primary and revision total hip and total knee replacement, partial knee replacement, robotic assisted surgery, and anterior-approach THA.
Prof. Kamath completed his medical degree at Harvard Medical School, residency at University of Pennsylvania, and fellowships in adult reconstruction (Mayo Clinic) and hip preservation (Muller Foundation in Europe).
Prof. Kamath is an experienced ROSA Hip and Knee surgeon and is well versed in all ZB technologies and robotics.
Professor Anders Troelsen is a senior consultant performing primary and revision knee and hip arthroplasty at Copenhagen University Hospital Hvidovre, and a professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Copenhagen. He has achieved PhD. and Doctor of Medical Sciences degrees, did a research fellowship at MGH in Boston and has been visiting consultant in Oxford. His academic focus areas are testing of developments in knee and hip arthroplasty designs and materials applying special techniques like RSA radiography and optimizing treatment strategies validating and applying PROM’s as part of these efforts. Prospective data collection by means of RCT’s, databases, and international multicentre studies are in his portfolio.
Mr Dermot Collopy is a Perth surgeon specialising in hip and knee replacement, revision arthroplasty and pelvic and acetabular trauma. Mr Collopy completed his residency and advanced surgical training in Perth in 1994 and undertook three years of overseas fellowship training in the area of hip and knee arthroplasty and revision surgery, initially at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford UK, followed by a further year at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, USA., and finally a fellowship in pelvic and acetabular trauma at Parkland Memorial Trauma Centre in Dallas Texas. He is well-respected nationally and internationally and is a regular invited speaker at meetings in Australia and overseas and is past-President of the Arthroplasty Society of Australia. His research interests are in hip and knee implant design and fixation, and robotic-assisted knee replacement.
Assoc Prof Chris Jones is a triple-fellowship trained Orthopaedic Surgeon with a PhD from the University of Western Australia in surgery, pathology and biomechanical engineering.
Assoc Prof Jones returned to Western Australia in July 2018 to take up a position as an orthopaedic Visiting Medical Officer at Fiona Stanley, Fremantle and Rockingham General Hospitals.
He works privately through Orthopaedics WA at St John of God Hospital Murdoch and The Mount Hospital where he resides on the board of the Medical Advisory Committee as the Orthopaedic Representative.
He continues to develop multidisciplinary research interests as the recipient of numerous research grants and has been appointed Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor at Curtin University.
Dr Peter McEwen is an orthopaedic surgeon based in Townsville, QLD Australia. Dr McEwen exclusively operates on the knee and in 2012 he set up the Orthopaedic Research Institute of Queensland and have been on the Board of Directors since inception. Dr McEwen is currently Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Orthopaedic Research Institute of Queensland and the representative for the Australian Knee Society on the Australian Orthopaedic Association National Joint Replacement Registry.
His Practice covers the entire spectrum of knee disorders. This includes nonoperative as well as operative treatment. He has a special interest in individualised knee replacement using advanced technologies, enhanced recovery after surgery protocols, infection prevention and ligament reconstruction of the knee. His expertise and experience in these fields is recognised nationally and internationally.
Paul is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Auckland City Hospital specialising in Hip and Knee orthopaedic surgery and general sports related problems. He has an appointment as Associate Professor at the University of Auckland and Paul has an international reputation for clinical, research and development work in this field leading a team of clinicians and scientists who undertake biomechanical and clinical studies related to the knee, hip and shoulder. This team is the most productive in the field in NZ and one of the most influential in the world.
Following training as an Orthopaedic surgeon in Oxford UK, he was awarded his doctorate in orthopaedic implant design from St. Johns College, Oxford and was later the NIHR Lecturer at the University of Oxford.
Paul holds the Army rank of Major in the Parachute Regiment and deployed to Helmand province as a combat trauma surgeon during the Afghanistan conflict.
Larissa Sattler is an experienced orthopaedic physiotherapist and researcher, currently in the role of Assistant Professor of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and Clinical Education at Bond University. Larissa has completed a PhD in the field of total knee replacement rehabilitation and she is also a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association Orthopaedic Group and the Queensland Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Network.
Associate Professor Sorial graduated from the University of Sydney and completed his orthopaedic training with the Australian Orthopaedic Association He subsequently attended Fellowships at the Arizona Centre for Joint Replacement, Phoenix, Arizona and at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts followed by a locum consultant posting in London, UK.
A/Prof Sorial was appointed as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon to the Nepean Hospital where he has developed a large joint replacement practice over the last 25 years that predominantly focuses on hip and knee surgery. He is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at the Nepean Private Hospital and Macquarie University Hospital.
A/Prof Sorial has a strong interest in teaching and training which led him to a long service period as NSW chair of training for the Australian Orthopaedic Association, followed by academic appointments to Sydney University as an adjunct associate professor and has been an examiner with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons for over 11 years. He is currently the scientific chairman and past president of the Asia Pacific Arthroplasty Society and has travelled widely through the region lecturing and performing surgical demonstrations. Involved in design projects for hip and knee implants, he has been an advocate for successful cementless technology for 20 years.
In addition, A/Prof Sorial is currently the Chief Medical Advisor for Zimmer Biomet Asia Pacific and extensively engaged in robotic surgery and peer education.
